The Drawing Room Experts
If actual drawing room conversations were recorded, the result wouldn’t be too far off from what we deliver through this podcast. Join the ”drawingroomers” as they discuss everything under the sun and provide an honest opinion as Pakistani expats living in North America, the likes of which is hardly heard in the current podcast/media space. Episode 47: Deconstructing Mindsets
Monday Nov 16, 2020
Monday Nov 16, 2020
Back after taking a week off, Zaib inches closer to a coveted half-century of episodes!
In this episode, Zaib goes through a few examples of different mindsets that exist around him and how he reads, understands, and deconstructs them to get to the core of what is behind a thought.
Again, it's an exercise that should be practiced for one's own thoughts and notions as well.
Enjoy!

Episode 46: Why I think Trump winning is better for the US in the long run
Monday Nov 02, 2020
Monday Nov 02, 2020
Zaib talks about the looming elections in the US on November 3rd, 2020 between Donald J Trump and Joe Biden, which has felt like ages in the making (so are the election coverage here in the US - extensive, to say the least)
Here's an ethical dilemma for you! Do you clean out the trash before guests arrive knowing that the trash will still be there but hidden beautifully under the cashmere carpet OR you let the trash stay in the open under the assumption that the embarrassment will eventually drive a more positive change i.e. cleaning out the trash in the future?

Episode 45: Discussing PDM's Public Display of Moroosi-siyasat
Monday Oct 26, 2020
Monday Oct 26, 2020
Zaib welcomes the great Sahir Nasir back to the fold to talk about some Pakistani politics which started with a simple question about the antics of the current opposition (Pakistan People's Party, Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz), etc.) also known as Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) or as Zaib call it... well it's in the title.
Sahir and Zaib talk in detail about what is wrong with the current opposition, both with over decades of experience ruling Pakistan with multiple Premiers under their banners, carrying this flag of constitutional and democratic supremacy.
Shout out to Farrukh who narrowly missed being a part of this. Hopefully soon when he's done carrying the weight of the world on his delicate shoulders

Episode 43: October 12, 1999
Monday Oct 12, 2020
Monday Oct 12, 2020
Zaib is found reminiscing about the fate-changing day from the 20th century that continues to bear fruit for what holds for Pakistan in the 21st Century. The day when Nawaz Sharif's government was overthrown by the Military establishment at the time led by General Pervez Musharraf.
Zaib talks about the day when he heard about the coup, his life, and memories under the regime and then talks about the implications of constitutional punishments concerning coups vs. providing rights to the people (or lack thereof).
Also just going to add a quote of Musharraf on the 12th when he got off that flight which could have potentially crashed
"I saved a life today, my own... Am I a hero?..........
I really can't say, but yes."
Enjoy!

Episode 42: The (real) Villains at Villa Park
Monday Oct 05, 2020
Monday Oct 05, 2020
With an audible sense of embarrasment and frustration in full display throughout this episode, Zaib, who probably saved himself a little more embarrasment by not recording this episode earlier which would have sounded so out of touch, is back talking about Liverpool Football Club.
The episode was recorded literally minutes after the 7-2 annhilation at Aston Villa so the reaction is raw but the feelings are real! Zaib talks about what went wrong in the game and who were the real culprits (which wasn't too hard to spot!)
Zaib finishes the episode by talking about the overall transfer market activity and how Liverpool's midfield could/would line-up.

Episode 38: Problems with the Left
Monday Sep 07, 2020
Monday Sep 07, 2020
First things first, the whole bats' thing that they turn towards the left? Yeah, that's just an urban myth it appears.
Zaib discusses the issues with the political and social 'Left' in the West and generally around the world and how it standardizes thoughts in an attempt to suppress different worldviews to foster.
